There’s not as many people around and cheaper prices are two big benefits of travelling in Winter in Australia, but how can you make your trip easier in these colder months? Here are our top 3 tips:
1. Allocate more time.
These are important as conditions can become quite bad in Winter throughout Australia. Wind, fog and rain can often delay flights, and also make for dangerous road conditions. These driving conditions will force you to drive a bit slower, and also pull over and stop if the conditions are too dangerous. Ensure you allow extra time on your travelling day before booking tours/activities in order to avoid rushing, or losing booking fees.
2. Pack for the conditions
There is nothing worse than getting to your destination and realising you forgot your warmest jacket. Make sure you lay everything out before packing it into your suitcase to ensure you have packed all of your warmest clothing. If space is an issue, keeping your hands, feet and head warm could really help with keeping warm. Pack atleast one good set of socks, gloves and a beanie/hat. As winter clothes are bulkier that Summer clothes, vacuum packing could help if travelling for a longer period of time.
3. Think about your accommodation
Make sure you understand what you will be getting from your accommodation. Does it have thick blankets? Do you need to bring extra? Is there heating? Does your cabin have a bathroom? These are all things that could make your trip uncomfortable if you aren’t prepared for these types of issues. Make sure you do your research before booking.
