Mad March is one of our favourite times of the year here at Adelaide Shores! There is so much happening in Adelaide and the weather is perfect for the beach!
February 13 marks the opening to the famous Fringe festival, bringing together performers from around the world and drawing crowds to create what is a phenomenal atmosphere across Adelaide.
In addition to the 900 plus events happening all over Adelaide for the Fringe, the city also plays host to Clipsal 500 from February 26-March 1, the Adelaide Festival from February 27-March 15 and WOMAD music festival from March 6-9. Sports lovers can enjoy the ICC World Cup or the curtain raiser to the 2015 AFL premiership season, the NAB Challenge.
It’s a time of year not to be missed in Adelaide but it can also become expensive with show tickets and entry fees! Here are some ideas to enjoy the festivities, without breaking the bank….
No need for fork out for events, just soak up the festival atmosphere at the Garden of Unearthly Delights (free entry) or Royal Croquet Club (free entry before 9pm). Take a picnic blanket and enjoy the buzz of activity around you, browse the market stalls or speak with roving performers spruiking their upcoming shows!
Many of the festivals hold free kids days or concerts, which can be a cost effective day or evening out. Take a look at a couple of our favourite “free” guides below.
Be sure to check out (or participate in!) “Open Mic” in Moseley Square every Sunday with our good friend Andrew “Cosi” Costello, it’s just 5 minutes down the road from Adelaide Shores.
If you love camping or have always wanted to try it, it’s a great time of year to do so, with mild weather and a quieter park. If camping isn’t your thing, have a look at accommodation at our Resort, where our room pricing can work out cheaper if travelling as a group or large family.
It’s not too late to pack up the car or suitcase and head over for the festivities! If you need some last minute accommodation, book online or give us a call on 1800 444 567. Happy Mad March!
